Thunderstorms, flash flooding and hail forecast for London as weather warnings issued

Thunderstorms are on the way for the capital as weather warnings are put in place for London following a heatwave.

Temperatures are expected to stay hot at around 26 degrees, but a torrent of rain is predicted to fall by 6pm, a mere two days after the hottest September day in nearly 70 years .

The Met Office have issued weather warnings for London and said: "Slow developing thunderstorms may develop later today (September 15), leading to locally torrential downpours with the risk of of hail and frequent lightning."

They warned: "Please be aware that whilst many places will miss them, there is the risk of flash flooding where they do occur."

M25 is CLOSED because of flash flooding after motorway is hit by 'biblical rain and hail' with some cars stranded in standing water and 12-mile queues as Britain is battered by thunderstorms

Well I should have gone to play golf as not a blood rain drop to be seen! Problem was the tight bastards would give you a refund or a credit if they sounded the Klaxon after three holes!! Same problem Goodwood Sunday, go with the forecast or risk it!

According to the BBC website we should have had storms all night and the map says it should be pissing down right now, but blue skies and the pesky heat are still here!

Some ok lightning over Oxford

The only really noteworthy thing was how decidedly not dark the clouds were when the thunder started.

The sky was supposed to drop it's drawers on tuesday - they keep moving it back by a day and apparently it's not guaranteed tomorrow either.

I reckon we should do away with weather forecasters and just have a native american indian hold a wet digit up in the air.
